This workshop explores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics in advancing hospitality and tourism research and education. Participants will gain insights into how AI-driven research methodology, analytics tools, and techniques—such as machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive modeling—can be applied to large-scale datasets to predict KPI (key performance indicators), uncover patterns, forecast trends, and enhance decision-making.

Bio
Minwoo Lee, Ph.D.​​

Dr. Minwoo Lee is an Associate Professor and Director of the Hospitality Analytics and Innovation Lab at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership, University of Houston. He is the author of more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book chapters, and trade publications in the fields of hospitality, tourism, and information systems.

Dr. Lee earned his B.B.A. and M.B.A. in Management Science from Korea Aerospace University, his M.S. in Management Information Systems from Texas Tech University, and his Ph.D. in Management (with a concentration in Hospitality and Tourism Management) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Dr. Lee’s research explores the impact of innovative technologies, service robots, corporate digital responsibility, big data and business analytics, and AI-powered predictive modeling. He has received 17 research excellence and best paper awards and has served as a consultant and research associate for Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals, Accor Hotels, Hilton, and IHG.
He currently serves as Director of Research for the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) and holds editorial positions with International Journal of Hospitality Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology. He is also an advisory board member for several leading hospitality and tourism journals.
